What you’re agreeing to

These terms apply to the Assurenet website and its matching service (“Assurenet”, “we”). By using the site or sending the questionnaire, you accept these terms and our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the service.

What Assurenet is, and what it isn’t

Assurenet is a matching service. We collect your contact details and the type of insurance you’re looking for, then match you with one specialist: a certified representative, attached to a partner insurance firm, who works mainly in your type of insurance. They’re the one who calls you.

• Assurenet is not an insurer, a firm, a broker or an agent.
• Assurenet does not sell insurance and gives no insurance advice. The review of your file, the advice and the quote come from the specialist, under their professional responsibility and their firm’s.
• The specialist and their firm are not Assurenet employees; they practise under their own professional responsibility.
• Other representatives and firms can offer comparable products. Nothing obliges you to do business with the specialist we introduce you to.

Who can use the service

The service is for people aged 18 and over who live in Québec. We may decline a request that comes from outside Québec, that concerns a type of insurance with no specialist available, or that looks false or abusive.

Free for you, paid by the firm

Answering the questionnaire, getting the call and receiving a quote costs you nothing, and nothing obliges you to buy. Assurenet is paid by the specialist’s firm: a fixed amount for each introduction, the same whether you buy or not. This business relationship is disclosed here, in your confirmation email and by the specialist at the start of their first call.

What you provide, and how you use the site

You agree to give accurate, up-to-date information about yourself (or about someone who asked you to make the request on their behalf). A request made with false information or with the intent to harm may be deleted. Bulk or automated requests, copying the site for commercial purposes, attempts to access our systems or other people’s information, and any illegal use are prohibited.

By sending the questionnaire, you are explicitly asking to be called by the specialist. If you change your mind before the call, write to us and we’ll pass your withdrawal on to the firm.

A quote is not a contract

The quote the specialist prepares for you is a proposal, not an insurance contract. The final premium depends on the insurer’s underwriting and the information you give them. If there is any discrepancy, the insurance contract prevails. Until you decide something, nothing changes in your current policy. Insuring, pricing or declining is the insurer’s decision; Assurenet plays no part in it.

Intellectual property

The site’s content (text, illustrations, logo, the Assurenet name) belongs to Assurenet or its suppliers and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may read it and print it for your personal use; any other use requires our written permission. The articles published on the site are general explanations, not advice about your situation.

Limits of our responsibility

Assurenet makes reasonable efforts to keep the site working and to match you with a specialist. To the extent the law allows, Assurenet is not responsible for the following:

• The advice, the quote, the timing and the service of the specialist or their firm, which fall under their professional responsibility.
• The insurer’s decisions: insuring you or not, setting the premium, settling a claim.
• The absence of an available specialist for your type of insurance or your area, or a call that comes later than announced.
• An interruption of the site, an error in its content or an incident beyond our control.
• Indirect damages, such as lost income, time or data.

These limits don’t apply where the law forbids them, notably in cases of intentional or gross fault. Nothing here reduces the rights you have under Québec’s Consumer Protection Act.

Links to other sites

The site links to other sites, such as those of partner firms. They have their own terms and their own privacy policies; Assurenet isn’t responsible for their content.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Québec and the laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute goes before the competent courts of Québec. If the French and English versions differ, the French version prevails.

Changes to these terms

The date at the top of the page shows the version in force. Changes apply to requests sent after they are published. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the new version.
